NOTD: As If! Dimepiece Crop Top Inspired

One of my all time favorite cult classic movies is Clueless– it’s one of those movies where I could watch over and over again while reciting the lines and giggling into a frenzy of silliness. . . I totally make references all the time in conversation with my close friends. In fact, we refer to my best friend as Clueliz which suits her perfectly because she is truly CLUELESS- but in a good way! But holey moley it’s hard to be believe its been 17 years since the movie first came out!! AS IF!

Nylon put together a great post featuring youtube vids of the top 5 best moments from Clueless. . .but I had to share a couple of my personal favorite quotes!

“He does dress better than I do, what would I bring to the relationship?” -Cher

“Sometimes you have to show a little skin. This reminds boys of being naked, and then they think of sex.” -Cher

“Why should I listen to you, anyway? You’re a virgin who can’t drive.” -Tai

“That was way harsh, Tai.” – Cher

“ ’tis a far far better thing doing stuff for other people.” –Cher

“But it’s an ALIA!!!” -Cher

“Do you prefer “fashion victim” or “ensembly challenged”?” –Cher

“As if!” – Cher

“Whatever.” -Amber

HILARIOUS SCENE:

Tai: I could really use some sort of herbal refreshment.

Dionne: Oh, well we do lunch in ten minutes. We don’t have any tea, but we have Coke and stuff.

Tai: No shit. You guys got Coke here?

Dionne: Well, yeah.

Cher: Yeah, this is America.

So Dimepiece LA recently came out with this awesome rainbow gradient corp top as a homage to Clueless! Isnt it deliciously adorable?!

The colors and print of the crop top totally seemed perfect for a nail art design inspiration so here is what I came up with:

as if mani

It was a perfect opportunity to finally use my Color Club Poptastic Collection set of polish- which I have to add that I randomly found at TJMaxx for only $9!

Here’s a couple pics I took of the bottles for a closer look at the colors in natural daylight. . . I didn’t have time to do an individual swatch of each color but Rebecca’s Likes Nails has perfectly applied beautiful and informative swatches of each color here. Out of all of the colors, I surprised myself in picking the Twiggie as my favorite. I am not a fan of green polish on me in general but Twiggie is a beautiful creme and unique shade of green that looks amazing on!

Throwback Mani: Cut Out Neon Heart

I totally forgot about this cut out neon heart mani I  did over a year ago which I had shared on my Instagram. I was reminded of it when I recently found out that it was featured on HelloGiggles for a Nails Of The Day feature. I guess I must have missed that post because I absolutely love browsing around on Hello Giggles! Anyways, I noticed a person commented and asked there how I achieved this look and that another person replied with a method but that actually wasn’t the way I personally achieved the cutout look.  Read below for details on how I achieved my cutout nails back then!

First, I applied a clear base. I then applied neon pink on the nails that wouldn’t have a cut out heart. I actually drew a heart outline with a nail art brush with the neon yellow polish I used on my thumb and accent finger. I  painted around the neon yellow outline as a guideline with the rest of the neon yellow. I then outlined the heart again with a black nail art pen. I did the rest of the nails by applying hot pink polish and then dotted with hair bobby pin straightened out. I can’t remember the exact colors I used but I am pretty sure I used the neons from the China Glaze Neon collection 2012. Please excuse the horribly dry cuticles and smeared outline. I don’t think I waited long enough before putting on topcoat! I think I should do this design again to compare my cut out skills now as opposed to over a year ago! And a bonus its a cute look appropriate now for summer!

NOTD: Hello Summer w Floss Gloss

Helllllllllo Summer!! So summer has officially begun with some scorching temperatures over here and I wanted to do a hot summer nail design with some of my Floss Gloss polishes!!

nailsofthedayheader

stun and fast lanemani with stun

So I started off with a hot neon gradient using Fast Lane– the neon orange color- and Con Limon over a white base. I then applied Stun on the sides to make a quick geometric effect completed with a Stun accent nail the look is done! The great thing about this gold glitter polish is that the formula is very glitterific and smooth! I only applied 2 coats on my accent nail. . . Look at this macro shot I took- can you just see all the amazing holo gold glitters packed in there?! It’s hard to believe that its only 2 coats but I kid you not!

Here’s another look at my mani in a different light. . .

NOTD: Neon Swag w Con Limon

I am very lucky and blessed to have such awesome friends that support my nail art adventures! So recently, I asked my fashion forward friend Hyunae to put together a fierce neon outfit for inspiration on my next nail art design because I was dying to use one of my new Floss Gloss polishes. . . So viola she put together and modeled this awesome outfit of the day for me!

Details of what Hyunae wore:

– Shirt from Fineassgirls.com

-Levi’s 545 that she cut and fringed herself

-Shoes from Aldo

-Watch from Michael Kors

-Earrings & Ring from Forever21

-Sunglasses from Ray-Ban

And below is my nail art design exclusively for Hyunae which I call “Neon Swag w Con Limon” featuring Floss Gloss‘ AMAZING neon polish “Con Limon”!

Quick thoughts on Con Limon. . .I absolutely LOVE this polish! Kay was exactly on point in her review of her Floss Gloss haul last week. The brush is amazing for application! Formula just glides on like butter! BEST neon formula ever in my honest opinion!

Floss Gloss Haul

KAY’S REVIEW:

FASTLANE: A beautiful bright reddish coral.  It has a smooth application with a wider brush than most polishes. With 2 coats I could still see a minimal (very minimal) nail line, so I added a 3rd coat and it was perfect. This formula dries matte but with a top coat it was beautifully bright and shiny.  In the sun this color seems so much brighter than in the picture.  I don’t think I could capture this color perfectly.  I think this is a great color for summer.

PERF: This is the PERFect milky pink!!!  It applies true to the color in the bottle and it applies opaque.  The brush helps this color to apply smooth and even.  I think this is a great color to have.  I do not have a color like this in my collection and I LOVE it!!  This is a PERFect baby pink!!!  This is 2 coats.

WAVEPOOL: A beautiful baby blue.  I cannot say enough how much I adore this color!  Again this color applies beautifully.  It also applies opaque and this is only 2 coats.  It is really a beautiful blue color that totally reminds me of a pool or the ocean.  I don’t think I could ever get enough of this color.  This is also a must have favorite of mine!!

CON LIMON:  This is honestly why I decided to place an order with flossgloss. I do not have a color like this and I knew I had to have it.  I am truly surprised at how great this color applies.   A color like this is normally watery and when applied you have to layer like crazy, not this color.  With any bright neon color it does dry matte but apply your favorite topcoat and shine on!  This color is definitely brighter if you use a white base, however with 3 coats and no white base it still looks good!!  In the picture, my index and middle finger have a white base.  The other two do not. All fingers have 3 coats.  I was not disappointed with this color at all. I think it is an awesome color for summer or anytime really and is also great for nail art!  A must have for all you neon nail polish lovers.

BIKINI CORAL: This is a beautiful bright orange.  It doesn’t seem very coral against my skintone. The brush applied this color smoothly and even.  This color also dries matte.  It applies pretty opaque as well.  Most of the time a color like this needs a white base but this applied very nicely with no white base.  I think that this is also great summer bright color that applies true to the color in the bottle.  One of my faves!!  This is 2 coats.

Overall, I am really impressed with the quality of the polishes and I can’t say enough good things about the BRUSH! I prefer a wider brush and this brush applies the polish perfectly.  The bright colors apply smoothly and opaque and in 2 coats!! The only one that I feel needs a white base is Con Limon but if you’re in a rush, you can go without.
I ordered these online and although I did have to wait a little longer than I wanted (I’m too impatient), when I emailed them for questions regarding my order they responded quickly and let me know when my order would be shipped.  They even threw in extras in my order and they didn’t have to. My order came when they said and I love that.  I have already been back on their website looking at more colors I want.  The only thing I wish was that the bottles were bigger cause I LOVE the colors.

KAY’S SWATCHES: **In all swatches I used Gelous base coat and China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.  The white I used with Con Limon is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On.

NOTD: Pretty & Polished Popples

My little one woke up today not feeling so great with a fever and terrible cough so alas no time for any new nail art- but I wanted to do a quick mani that’s bright and more importantly fast! Perfect time to use this amazing polish  I recently purchased from Pretty & Polished called “Popples” (which I instantly wanted to try out ever since the lovely Crystal from Crystal Crazy Combos showcased some amazing swatches of this particular polish).

SO viola! My nails of the day a simple white polish mani topped with 3 coats of “Popples”.

I took a macro shot of the polish in the bottle just to show you how packed it is with glitters! LOVE IT!

Quick Review: I was instantly drawn to the fun neon multi-shaped glitter at first glance. The polish is so well made-there are tons of these neon glitters in lime, electric blue, hot pink suspended in a milky white base. Love everything about this polish! No glitter curling and just perfect for the Summer! It’s only $9 and definitely worth it in my opinion!
